How to Know if You're Blocked on Snapchat: Expert Tips

Snapchat doesn't tell you if you've been blocked.

If someone has blocked you on Snapchat, this means that they are preventing you from accessing the content they publish on the platform and forbidding you from getting in touch with them. Blocking a person is done discreetly, and Snapchat doesn't send a notification to the blocked user. However, there are a few things you can do to find out if you've been blocked by one of your contacts.

How to Know if You're Blocked on Snapchat: Expert Tips

But first of all, it's important to remember that blocking social networks is a security measure. There are many reasons why a user might activate it: a personal dispute, discomfort in a conversation, a feeling of insecurity, and so on. So it's vital to respect your contact's decision and not insist on getting back in touch.

Snapchat: a few tips to know if you're blocked

The following signals may indicate that you've been blocked by a user:

  • Their profile no longer appears in your friends list; all your Snapchat friends appear in the My Friends section, in your Profile tab. If the person you're talking to no longer appears in your friends list, this may mean that they've blocked you. But it's also possible that they've simply removed you from their friend list—in which case you can still contact them—or that they've deleted their account.
  • His profile no longer appears in the search: if, when typing his name into the search tool (top left of the chat section), your contact's name no longer appears, this may indicate that you've been blocked or that the user has deleted his account.
  • The message is never viewed; if you've already had conversations with this person, then their name will always appear in your chat list. You can, therefore, send them a message. In the event of blocking, your messages will never be delivered. However, nothing will explicitly indicate that you are blocked; the chat will simply take the form of a one-way conversation (see image below). It is therefore also possible that the user has become inactive.
